Gustave L. Wittrock (1895-1954) served the New York Botanical Garden as Docent, Custodian of the Herbarium (1935-1944) and Assistant Curator of Education. He wrote two books on gardening, one specializing in pruning. He was an expert in the food, dye and medicinal plants of the American Indian. He was born in Chicago, Ill. on July 3, 1895.
